Life Coaching after Toxic Abuse
Life Coaching is a supportive and encouraging discussion process with practical advice and exercises that help you to find solutions for moving forward. A coach does not spend time looking backwards with you or analysing what may have brought you to your current situation, which ideally you may have done in therapy. A coach harnesses your self awareness, your willingness to improve your life and detach from the toxic abuser and gives you the tools and guidance needed to become stronger.
After encountering abuse, such as having been in a relationship with a narcissistic personality disordered individual, it is common to have developed low self esteem, crippling self doubt and a lack of impetus or confusion about how to get your life back on track. It can feel like there are so many things blocking your way and you might even have been financially abused. You may have dreams, career aspirations and creative ideas but it can feel like you don’t know where to begin. After being undermined, gaslighted or having received mixed messages from an emotional abuser, you will likely have absorbed plenty of negative self opinions which a toxic abuser relies on to keep you trapped: they sow the seed of impossibility to live without their pitiful drips of “attention”, but even so, your inner critic will take over what they have started, even when you are out of the relationship.
Life Coaching fills the holes we are left with in a healthy way: the work we do in-session focuses on plugging the gaps that leave us vulnerable to returning to the toxic situation or turning to other unhealthy, false solutions. Discussion, advice and practical exercises, that always focus on the present and moving forward a step at a time, help you to:
Sessions are one hour, but can be divided into two thirty minute booster sessions.

Discussion, advice and practical exercises, that always focus on the present and moving forward a step at a time, help you to:
- declutter the mind;
- make decisions that are in your interests;
- detach and understand who you are, your strengths, your abilities, your likes and dislikes in a truthful context and not through the abusers’ eyes;
- find your voice and free yourself from the abusers’ toxic opinions about the world;
- rebuild your self esteem;
- grow self trust;
- enjoy making choices on your own;
- create a plan for getting your life back on track;
- take control and reverse the effect of the inner critic through self validating exercises;
- career plan and do interview practice if that is something you need;
- take steps towards discovering joy again and living authentically.
Sessions are one hour, but can be divided into two thirty minute booster sessions.
